Cleaning challenges in Aged Care Facilities
My adventure kicked off in a hospital in Brisbane and eventually led me to the sensitive world of Aged Care. In this setting, every room requires a special, individualised approach. Cleaning here isn't just routine—it's about creating a safe and comfortable environment for the elderly. Additionally, adapting to the constantly changing healthcare standards was a crucial part of my job, ensuring we always provided the best care and cleanliness. From personal experience, I can tell you that the emotional aspect of working in Aged Care can be tough. It's more than just physical work; it's about the relationships you build and the stories you become a part of. Watching team members leave due to the workload was hard, but it's a reality in our field.
Embracing Change with IMS
Joining the IMS team was a pivotal moment for me. Together with the iClean Technology team, we developed and implemented digital tools like the iClean system, transforming our approach to managing and performing cleaning tasks. This technology allows cleaners to be more efficient and respond promptly to the needs of each area they're responsible for.
The introduction of a mobile app for supervisors was another significant change. iClean ensures quick and efficient communication, making sure any issues are resolved promptly. This not only raises the cleaning standards in Aged Care but also brings the team together, working cohesively towards a common goal.
The Power of Training
Training at IMS has been an integral part of my journey. Conducting training sessions for cleaners always teaches me something new as well. It's not just about teaching cleaning techniques; it's about inspiring every team member. We focus on practical skills, such as the effective use of cleaning agents, microfibre, and other cleaning equipment. Time and again, I'm convinced that only a comprehensive solution of the right equipment, technology, and effective training combined can yield excellent results in maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Reflections
Looking back, my path in the Healthcare Cleaning industry has been full of learning and growth. It's a role that goes beyond simple cleaning; it's about caring for people and making a positive impact on their lives. And I'm glad that the IMS team fully shares my values.
