COVID-19: Advice from Prof Didier Pittet
You can’t go anywhere without someone talking about it.
It’s on the news. It’s on your social media feeds. Look, you’re even reading about it right now.
Dr Tedros, WHO director-general quoted in this morning’s news 'Ready your hospitals, protect and train your health workers.
This morning, it was declared a pandemic. I found a great quote this morning from Dr Tedros, WHO director-general, while reading an article. “We cannot say this loudly enough or clearly enough, or often enough: all countries can still change the course of this pandemic.” He then added, “Ready your hospitals, protect and train your health workers and let’s look out for each other because we need each other.”
Minister for Aged and Senior Australians, Richard Colbeck, spoke about a funding boost when outlining the measures in place to “protect our most vulnerable… those aged over 70 are at greater risk” and “ready Australia’s aged care sector.”
In saying that, there are simple steps we need to take to better our hygiene.
Knowing that COVID-19 can live on surfaces for up to 9 days and not knowing who has touched any of the surfaces we come in contact with over the last 9 days and where they or their family members have been travelling, the possibility of contracting Coronavirus is becoming higher.
We must take the preventative stance and assume that any of our TouchPoints could be contaminated.
A few weeks ago, I was in Europe with Professor Didier Pittet and he gave us his take on what we can be doing to minimise the spread and protect your residents, patients and staff.
It’s that simple. Professor Didier Pittet, who created the Clean Hands campaign is our Key Note speaker at the iClean Conference 2020 event that we’re hosting in May.
